Easton School of Artists Exhibit

As world famous sculptors Louise Bourgeois and Frederick Charles Schrady discovered last century, Easton is an idyllic place to practice art. Our town has long been a creative refuge for painters, writers, photographers and musicians.

A new exhibit at Greiser's presents the work of 16 artists who are currently living or working in Easton. Two were raised in Easton and others grew up in neighboring towns. Several have called Easton home for decades, and others are transplants from around the US. 

We're calling this show "The Easton School of Artists." We don't mean to imply there's a movement linked by common theme. Instead we've assembled the work of a community of creative people with common interests: each artist has chosen to live and work in Easton and is, we're delighted to say, a patron of the same small town coffeeshop.

To be sure, the first 16 highly accomplished Easton artists we've assembled -- and we intend to add others as the show evolves -- could not be stylistically more different from each other. The group includes artists who work in oil, pastel, watercolor, gouache, ink, and mixed media as well as 2 photographers, 2 sculptors, and a textile artist. 

And yet, instead of a roomful of incongruous colors, textures, moods and messages, the show has come together easily and cohesively. 

The show is on view now in Greiser's back room, open to all during our business hours. Most art is is for sale, with prices ranging from $225 to $4800.
